Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has explained failed deals for Carlton Cole and Dan Gosling.

Cole was on a free transfer after being released from West Ham after seven seasons.

Palace were also keen on Newcastle United's Gosling but Parish told the Daily Star his club wouldn't be pursuing him either.

Parish said: "It's very unlikely Dan and Carlton will be signing, we have decided to move on.

"We are now looking at alternative targets."
