Crystal Palace co-chairman Stephen Browett is confident new football chief Iain Moody will improve their transfer power.
Browett believes that Moody will prove to be a massive asset to Palace - after admitting they were unprepared in the transfer market following promotion via the Championship play-offs in May.
"Cardiff's loss is very much our gain," said the Palace chief to the South London Press. "He comes very highly recommended and did a really good job there.
"The sporting director title is for someone who deals with moving in and out players. It is the football side of the business without coaching, training or picking the team.
"He could easily have been called head of transfers. It's player recruitment.
"When we got into the Premier League we were not experts on the players who played in the foreign leagues - Iain ticks that box.
"He has got an encyclopedic knowledge of them. He doesn't replace anybody - he comes in to do a job that wasn't being done at Palace."
