Palace chairman Jordan slams "embarrassing" Derby, Watford

Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan claims the efforts of promoted clubs Watford and Derby in the Premier League are "embarrassing".

Derby, who were promoted last year via the play-offs, have already been consigned to the drop having won just one game all season while Watford went straight back down last season 10 points adrift of safety.

"With respect, I think clubs like Watford and Derby who have gone in to the Premier League make a sham of promotion, it's embarrassing," Jordan told talkSPORT.

"I think the gulf between the bottom six sides in the Premier League and the top six sides in the Championship is marginal - so why do you finish with 15 points in the season after being promoted - or whatever Derby are on?"

"I think you have to approach the division with no respect because that's why Championship sides regularly turn over Premier League sides in the FA Cup - because they don't let them play."
