Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis feels the January market will decide their Premier League fate.
Palace are only in the relegation zone on goal difference after back-to-back wins but Pulis knows strengthening his squad is crucial to their chances of survival.
"The most important thing is that we deal with the Christmas programme first and then sit down with Steve and the rest of the directors to see what we can do," said Pulis, who has dismissed reports linking Palace with a move for Blackburn forward Jordan Rhodes.
"[If we can] move and manipulate things, [that will] give us a push in the second half of the season.
"The business we do will determine what sort of run we can have in the new year. I have said to Steve that you never know what the players are going to be like until you bring them in. The players have been fantastic but we do need to improve it [the squad]."
