Crystal Palace boss Tony Pulis is frustrated being forced to shop in the bargain basement this month.

The Daily Mail says having handed club co-owner Steve Parish and sporting director Iain Moody a list of targets which included Nikica Jelavic, Shane Long, Matthew Etherington and Peter Crouch, the Palace boss has been asked to look at cheaper alternatives.

The low wage budget is a big factor in the transfer failures. Wigan defender Ivan Ramis preferred Cardiff to Palace due to the money on offer, only to then fail a medical.

Pulis is also keen to make Jason Puncheon’s move from Southampton permanent to free up another loan but the club have not done this either.
