Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says Wilfried Zaha will benefit from his time at Manchester United.
Zaha faces his former employers today - the first time since his permanent return to Selhurst Park in January.
"I wouldn't call it a terribly disappointing, it was just a period in his career that didn't work out," said Pardew.
"That happens with players, coaches and managers. What he's done he's approached this game in the right way.
"He's focused on the job here, he's learnt in the Premier League you need to do certain things defensively, which he's coped with well without taking away his offensive ability.
"He never really had the opportunity to do that at Man United because he didn't play enough, and that's not fault of Man United's."
