Crystal Palace boss George Burley says Sunderland striker Darren Bent should be leading the line for England.
Burley brought Bent through the ranks at Ipswich and is adamant he has the pedigree to score goals at international level.
Burley said: "Yes, Darren will miss chances but he still converts a high percentage.
"If you play him on a regular basis then he will score goals but you have to play to his strengths. He needs to play high up the park, and I have no doubt he can work with Wayne Rooney.
"They would form a good international partnership because they would complement each other so well as Wayne likes to drop deep.
"But by far the hardest thing in football is scoring goals and Darren can do that.
"I was so pleased to see him score his first England goal against Switzerland and I'd love to see him do it again so I hope he gets an opportunity against Montenegro."
