Crystal Palace boss George Burley concedes Edgar Davids has struggled in his comeback to big time football.
The 37-year-old former Holland star stunned football by coming out of retirement to sign for Palace in the summer but is yet to show his best form - and Burley isn't surprised.
"The Championship is a tough league and no matter who you are it isn't easy to settle in quickly," said Burley, whose side are looking for a win against Millwall today to take them out of the relegation zone.
"We can't expect too much and you have to take it game to game with Edgar. He spent two years in retirement but he is a first-class professional and a lovely lad.
"We have to recover from the devastating blow of losing to QPR in our last match. It's going to be a cracking game against Millwall and we will have to be at our very best."
