Sam Allardyce kept Crystal Palace in the Premier League in their penultimate fixture but has no appetite for another relegation battle next season.
"I would not want to keep fighting relegation at the end of every season," said Allardyce, who was appointed Palace boss in December.
"Once you have done it, it is about building for the future and trying to make sure you are not in that position again.
"Firefighting is the difficult part. Building for the future is the more enjoyable part and is far more important because it relieves the stress on the club."
