Crystal Palace co-owner Steve Parish feels they've found their long-term manager in Alan Pardew.
Parish has explained his thinking behind an appointment that he hopes will bring stability to the club.
"There are lots of reasons," he said. "I knew Alan a little bit and, against a lot of difficulties, he did very well over a long period of time at Newcastle.
"You need someone with experience in the Premier League and Alan is one of the more experienced managers in the division.
"He seemed like the right fit. He has got history with the club and the fans are right behind him. We have not had the stability that we have craved and we need to get that. We have made a big commitment to Alan and he has made a big commitment to us."
