Paatelainen sees extension of season as a last resort

Kilmarnock boss Mixu Paatelainen would not be opposed to an extension to the Clydesdale Bank Premier League season to cope with a potential fixture backlog - but only as a last resort. Their game against Celtic has so far survived the severe weather conditions which have claimed more than a dozen fixtures over the last few weeks, including Rangers' rescheduled trip to Dundee United.

Paatelainen said: "If something like that was necessary, then okay, it can be done. Hopefully it won't be done.

"But, if the weather conditions are so bad that the matches really have to be called off and that's the only option, we should take it."
