Ozil receives acclaim from Arsenal boss Wenger

Mesut Ozil has been praised by manager Arsene Wenger for his stunning performance in Arsenal's 2-0 Champions League victory over Napoli on Tuesday night.

The German playmaker scored his first goal for the north London club since his deadline day move from Real Madrid when he expertly fired home a half-volley from near the penalty spot in the eighth minute.

Ozil then turned provider when he played a cut-back pass for Olivier Giroud to slam home in the 15th minute, prompting plenty of adulation from Wenger.

"First half, absolutely amazing, fantastic. Everything was in there - collective skill, individual skill, finishing, all that you dream to see," he told Sky Sports.

"When it takes too long to score it is always on your mind a little bit, so he got rid of that."
