Michael Owen is putting off all new contract talks at Newcastle United.

Owen's advisors claim the last firm offer they received was for a one-year extension to the contract at a basic wage of £85,000 per week.

A source close to Owen's camp told the Evening Chronicle: "Michael's representatives would not let him sign any new deal in the present circumstances at St James's Park."
