Manchester United striker Michael Owen hopes his double against Scunthorpe during the week will see him get more minutes.
The 30-year old helped the Red Devils to a 5-2 Carling Cup win with two goals and with a busy schedule coming up, hopes he can play more of a part for Sir Alex Ferguson.
"It was a good workout at Scunthorpe and we're glad to go through as some big teams went out," he said.
"There were a lot of players there who needed that first game - some coming back from injury and some who hadn't played, so it was beneficial.
"We're into a period now where the Champions League and Carling Cup have started and, obviously, there's league games.
"I'm sure there will be a lot more games coming thick and fast now."
