Owen: Ballon D'Or hinges on Champions League result

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid player Michael Owen believes the coming final between the two teams will decide the Balon D'Or race.

The two players who are seen as the favorites to win the award are Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah.

Both are competing against each other in the final. And Owen believes their performances in the game will determine who wins the award.

Asked about who will win the award, Owen told Marca: "I think a lot will depend on who wins the Champions League. If Real Madrid wins, then Cristiano Ronaldo will be there once more.

"If Liverpool does it, Salah would be favourite. He has been absolutely brilliant this year, and has done very well in the Egypt team, taking them to the World Cup."
