Our win over Celtic bigger than theirs over Barcelona - Lincoln Red Imps star Walker

Lincoln Red Imps star Liam Walker has stated that their victory over Celtic is bigger than the Hoops' triumph over Barcelona a couple of seasons ago.

Little-known Gibraltar side Lincoln pulled off the biggest upset in their humble history by beating Scottish champions Celtic 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League second round qualifiers first leg on Tuesday.

For a team consisting of police officers, a shipping agent, a civil servant and other part-time players, the Red Imps' victory has been seen as a huge shock and London-born star Walker has stated that Celtic's victory over Barcelona a couple of seasons ago in the Champions League pales in comparison to their achievement.

Walker said: "Celtic play in the Champions League most seasons and they beat Barcelona not so long ago - but this is bigger than that for us. I remember watching that game and thinking it was an amazing result. But this is probably an even bigger shock to be honest.

"We're just a small team from Gibraltar. We've only been playing in Europe for three years. There are guys in the team who were working on the day of the game. It's incredible when you think about it.

"No matter what happens now we've made history. It will go down as one of the great results in football.

"Lincoln's name will now go all over the world. We've really put the club on the map."
