Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has explained the reasons why he allowed Dimitar Berbatov to leave the club.
The Bulgarian striker today joined Fulham on a two-year deal after four years at Old Trafford and although Ferguson was delighted with his contribution, he admitted that his new style of play no longer suited the former Tottenham man.
"He's a very talented player and his contribution was good, particularly in home games. But when we changed our game, it didn't suit him," Ferguson told the club's official website.
"We started to play with more speed and teams were getting organized very quickly against us.
"Therefore, we had to change the way we wanted to play and it didn't suit Dimitar but he's a very talented player. Wherever he goes, he'll do well."
