Osman: Martinez has given Everton great self-belief

Everton midfielder Leon Osman has enjoyed his first season under manager Roberto Martinez.

Everton meet Arsenal today with the chance to move within a point of fourth place.

"Our new manager has a lot of self-belief that you can't help but buy into," said Osman.

"The way we train every day under him gives us a confidence to go out there and express ourselves. Coming to the crunch part of the season that kind of thing is going to be very important.

"I'm not going to sit here and say I didn't enjoy my time playing before because I always enjoyed playing for the club. But any footballer would tell you that it is a lot more enjoyable having the ball than not having it.

"Ultimately it is about winning games and you could be without the ball for 89 minutes, score a goal and be happier than if you had the ball and lost.

"But if you can put the two together, of retaining lots of possession and winning games, any footballer would say that is more enjoyable."
