Osman happy to shoulder the load for Everton

Leon Osman insists he is happy to have more responsibility for Everton following the departure of Mikel Arteta.

The Spaniard left Goodison Park for Arsenal in the summer and since then Osman has stepped up for the Toffees in his attacking midfield role.

He feels that the loss of Arteta was a negative but made it clear that the club simply had to get on with the job and he says that he has personally benefited from his absence.

"It is a loss that Mikel moved on but we are not going to mope about it," Osman told the club's official website.

"We have got a good squad in place here and good players so we are looking forward.

"I have found myself playing a bit more centrally, which has been good for me and hopefully I can continue to do so.

"The more I can get on the ball, the better. I am sure any footballer will tell you they want to be on the ball and I like to get on it and make things happen."
