Leon Osman is happy with this attacking role for Everton in recent weeks.
Osman scored in Everton's victory over Wigan Athletic and said: "I have been playing further forward since Mikel (Arteta) was injured, and I am certainly enjoying it a lot.
"It has been a very pleasing time for me. It has been a blow to have lost Mikel, but it does give me - and Steven Pienaar - the chance to go forward more; it gives us both licence to attack.
"We have two major games next, at Aston Villa in the battle for fifth or even fourth in the league. The results we have been picking up, and our form, gives us great confidence next Sunday.
"We are evenly matched, a win each so far this season, so we know we can do it.
"I recall a game at Villa Park a few years back when I scored a couple in a great win, I would settle for that again next weekend.
"Then comes the FA Cup semi-final. It's great to be involved in both competitions.
"You do not want to be getting to the business end of the season with nothing to play for and we are certainly relishing the situation we are finding ourselves in."
