Everton goal scorer Leon Osman expects manager Dave Moyes to make more signings before the summer transfer window shuts.
"It has raised the bar for us and that is really good for everyone at the club.
"If we are going to move forward it is what we need. The three players so far that have arrived, Phil (Jagielka), Steve (Pienaar)and Leighton (Baines) are all versatile and have improved the squad.
"It's what we need. We are in Europe again and hopefully that will give us a lot more matches to play this season, so extra players are needed.
"But we need quality now to improve our side, we finished sixth last time out so you need to spend a lot of money to improve what we have, that is the difficult bit."
He added: "As for my goal, you don't score many headers from that far out, and it's unfortunate for a keeper when he gets lobbed like that.
"It was important to get off to a good start, we know how important that is for any team.
"We have a tough first week and we needed to get out of the blocks straight away with two very difficult away trips coming up."
