Osieck to continue with more advanced role for Everton's Cahill

Australian national team coach Holger Osieck believes Tim Cahill's best position is closer to goals and will continue to use him in that role for the Socceroos.

The 30-year old has spent plenty of time as an attacking midfielder but has become more prolific as a striker at club level with Everton in recent times and the German tactician will carry on that trend in the November 17 friendly with Egypt in Cairo.

"Well, if you look at his performance at his club he plays up," said Osieck.

"And he plays very successfully up and he scores a lot of goals. And why not use his potential in our team as well?"

Last weekend, Cahil notched up a milestone when he scored his 50th Premier League goal for the Toffees, indicating that he is in top form leading into the international match.
