Orlando City SC have been linked with a move for Benfica pair Ola John and Ruben Amorim.
City's midfield has been hit with a number of injuries this season, with Brek Shea, Tony Cascio and Kevin Molino all currently sidelined. The MLS club has a well-established 'strategic co-operation' with Benfica.
Orlando Soccer Daily is reporting that an offer in the area of $USD300,000 has already been made for Amorim, a 30-year old Portuguese international who has spent the past seven seasons at Benfica.
Dutch speedster John, 23, has also been linked with a move after failing to command a regular place in the side's starting line-up.
The MLS transfer window officially opens on July 8.
