Orlando City struggling to full matchday quota says Heath

MLS expansion club Orlando City SC may not be able to reach the usual 18-man squad for this weekend's meeting with Montreal Impact.

The Lions head to Quebec on Saturday but could have in tow just 17 players as they get set to deal with injuries and international call-ups.

The likes of Brek Shea, Rafael Ramos, Darwin Ceren, Cyle Larin and Kevin Molino will all represent their countries during the international break - whether it be at senior or youth level - while Martin Paterson, Carlos Rivas, Bryan Rochez and Cristian Higuita are still under injury clouds.

That leaves Orlando City boss Adrian Heath with a problem ahead of just their fourth MLS fixture.

"It looks like we may only have 17 for the team sheet on Saturday," Heath said.

"It's obviously not ideal, but there's no good moaning about it as it's the same situation for most teams this weekend with the international call-ups.

"There will be some opportunities this week for players who haven't seen any play yet and, if they take their chance, they can give me a tough decision about who plays next week. Is it ideal? Obviously not, but I am pretty philosophical about it and we have to get on with it."

Orlando were cruelly beaten 1-0 by Vancouver Whitecaps at the Citrus Bowl on Saturday with Octavio Rivero netting a 96th-minute header after the Lions dominated proceedings. They sit third on the Eastern Conference table with four points from three fixtures.
