Orlando City's stadium developments gaining momentum

Orlando City SC are planning to kickstart their Major League Soccer expedition in a brand new stadium.

The USL PRO league champions will begin MLS play in 2015 after being granted expansion rights in November last year and are determined to make the move from their current home at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Buena Vista, Florida.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that plans for a new Orlando stadium are gaining momentum with a completion date of February 1, 2016 being mooted as a worse-case scenario.

"We are moving full speed ahead," Orlando City team executive Brett Lashbrook said. "We are working nonstop to have this stadium ready to go."

Orlando City are also in talks regarding a naming rights sponsor for the proposed development which could be ready for part of the 2015 MLS season.

"We are looking for the right partner that is the right match for what we represent and what we think this will mean for the community," Lashbrook added.

"We are having multiple conversations right now about that."
