Orlando City deny interest in Stoke's Derby loanee Butland

Orlando City SC has denied claims that they are in pursuit of Stoke City's Jack Butland.

The Daily Star recently suggested that the MLS expansion franchise were eyeing the 21-year old goalkeeper who is currently on loan at Championship club Derby County.

The report indicated that the Lions were seeking the services of Butland to cover for new signing Tally Hall who is out until June with a serious knee injury but club president Phil Rawlins has scuppered the speculation.

The England U21 international was being touted as a possible short-term option for Orlando while they wait for Hall to return to fitness but Rawlins told tribalfootball that there was no truth to the Butland rumours.

So far, the MLS' 21st franchise has confirmed the signings of nine players including Brazilian ace Kaka, Portuguese youngsters Rafael Ramos and Estrela and Trinidad & Tobago international Kevin Molino as they continue to prepare for the 2015 MLS season.
