Bryan Rochez was the hero for Honduras as they secured a thrilling win in their opening fixture at the U20 FIFA World Cup on Monday.
The Orlando City forward scored a double, including an injury-time winner as los Catrachos edged Uzbekistan 4-3 in their Group F opener in Christchurch, New Zealand.
Rochez slotted home in the 20th minute to double Honduras' lead following Jhow Benavidez's fourth-minute opener before Dostonbek Khamdamov pulled one back for the Uzbeks just after the half-hour mark.
Kevin Alvarez had the Hondurans 3-1 up early in the second half prior to Eldor Shomurodov's 79th-minute effort which had Uzbekistan in with a chance late on.
However, Rochez restored Honduras' two-goal lead when racing past his marker before beating Uzbek keeper Sarvar Karimov in the 92nd minute.
It proved to be a vital goal as Uzbekistan grabbed a third four minutes later through Zabikhillo Urinboev.
The win saw the Central Americans go to second on the group table behind Germany who defeated Fiji 8-1 earlier in the day.
Honduras next take on Fiji on Thursday as Uzebkistan will have their work cut out for them against a German side who were ruthless in their opener.
