Oriol Romeu is delighted with his first months at Southampton.
Romeu left Saints for Chelsea in August.
He told the Daily Mail: "This summer, the aim was to find somewhere that I could call home, where I felt sense of belonging. You have to be mentally strong to keep adapting. Each time on loan, you have a new manager, new team-mates, a new country, a new language and a different style of football. Chelsea have a 'loan staff department' with Paulo Ferreira and Eddie Newton. They send you video analysis with things to improve on but when you are on loan, it is hard to really thrive and define your career.
"I spent this summer training with the group of 'loan players' at Chelsea. It was a month where I was staying by myself in a hotel near Cobham and it's psychologically hard. In the end, I wanted to sign for a club and Southampton was the best option."
