Former Inter Milan director Lele Oriali admits they could've signed Real Madrid midfielder Kaka in 2003.
Kaka went onto glory with AC Milan before joining Real 18 months ago.
Oriali actually flew out to South America to hold talks with the Sao Paulo youngster, but no deal was done.
"At the time, we at Inter were close to him," he revealed. "It was before our city rivals Milan got to him.
"Myself and Inter President Massimo Moratti travelled to Brazil so that we could talk to him, but nothing was agreed.
"There was no particular reason why things stalled, it was simply a case that talks never continued after that."
