Opposition supporters would love me - Chelsea star Terry

Chelsea captain John Terry is never far away from controversies, and he was at it again recently, claiming opposition fans would love him if he played for their team.

Terry has often found himself in the middle of controversy and also has been a constant target of opposing supporters throughout his career but believes that he would be a fan favourite wherever he played.

"You hope that when you hang up your boots, obviously, you don't want to be hated," Terry told the Men in Blazers podcast.

"You just want to be known as a very good footballer and someone who gave their all for their club."

When questioned about treatment in the past from rival fans, he added: "I'm sure that if I was in their team, they (the opposing fans) would love me in their team because I'm one of those players who gives everything to the cause.

"Regardless of what people think or say, you can't take away what I've done in the game. As a person and player, that's for anyone who's met me.

"Anyone who's not met me shouldn't be judging me or the character or person I am but as I say, footballing wise they've had opportunities to see me play and if you're a football person you can make a judgement on whether I'm a good player or not."
