The Sun says Wenger, 57, has agreed a deal worth £75,000 a week to stay at the Emirates until 2010 - a 50 per cent rise.

That puts just skipper William Gallas, on £80,000 a week, on more than the manager.

The Arsenal board have been able to splash the cash after selling top earner Thierry Henry to Barcelona.

Many directors feared Wenger would quit next year after Henry left.

But the French boss has been won over by his exciting young stars and wants to continue working with them.
