Gary O'Neil could be key to Middlesbrough winning the battle for Portsmouth wing-back Matty Taylor.
Middlesbrough have joined the race for Taylor and are prepared to meet Portsmouth's £4.5million asking fee.
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will use ex-Blues star O'Neil to persuade Taylor to move to the Riverside Stadium.
