Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill is keen to secure defender Wilfred Bouma to a new contract.

Bouma's existing deal expires in the summer, but Villa have a further one-year option that they can take up.

"I just haven't had a chance to sit around a table with him," said O'Neill. "It doesn't matter whether there's a month or three minutes to go (on his option).

"He's done very well and I will get round to sorting it out. But I really do need to talk to Wilfred first about it."
