Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill hailed their away fans after their win at QPR.

Nicklas Bendtner and Stephane Sessegnon had given the Black Cats a two-goal lead, only for QPR to level the scores through Heidar Helguson and Jamie Mackie before Wes Brown's 89th-minute decider.

"I'm delighted with the team; delighted with their character and performance and obviously that is augmented by the tremendous support of the crowd," he told

"That's twice now they've made the long journey to the capital - on Sunday and again [to Loftus Road]. It's remarkable and let me tell you, really appreciated.

"It's fantastic to win, a game at 2-2 is in the balance, but we fought back and won the game."
