Martin O'Neill insists he's in no rush to add to his new Sunderland squad.
The new Black Cats boss accepted the role without discussing a budget for the next transfer window, or thereafter, with owner Ellis Short.
And he says: "I genuinely think I've got to wait and see about January.
"People were probably surprised by how adamant I was in saying that I deliberately didn't discuss January with him (Short).
"I've got to get to know the players, particularly in the next four or five weeks. I know you don't get the time, but in essence, that's the situation.
"I didn't take the job because there might be a promise of something coming up. It was Sunderland and I wanted to do it. If nothing develops from that it genuinely is not a problem."
