Juan Luis Oltra has been named new coach Almeria after Nestor Gorosito pulled out yesterday.
Oltra replaces Juan Manuel Lillo, who was sacked immediately after Saturday's humiliating 8-0 home defeat at the hands of Barcelona.
That loss left Almeria in the bottom two of the standings with just one win and nine points from their opening 12 games.
Oltra has agreed a deal to coach the Andalusian outfit until the end of the season and he will be presented on Thursday before taking his first training session with the team.
The 41-year-old led Tenerife into the Primera Division in 2009 but could not keep them in the top flight as the Canarian outfit immediately dropped back down after finishing 19th last season.
Oltra, who counts Levante and Castellon among his former clubs, was subsequently replaced by Gonzalo Arconada at the end of the campaign.
Almeria are away to fifth-placed Valencia - Oltra's home-town club - on Sunday.
