While he is excited by the signing of Lugano - Albion's second summer recruit after Nicolas Anelka - he understands that his spot is now under serious threat from the Uruguay captain,
"His CV is brilliant and I think he can be a good addition to our team," Olsson told the Birmingham Mail.
"Hopefully more players will come. Our squad is not big enough at the moment to cope with the whole season so I welcome more additions to the team and the competition, of course.
"I think the squad needs freshening up. Before every season it's good to have a few new faces and competition for places is what develops you as a team and individual.
"It's always something that makes you try harder."
