Oldham Athletic are continuing their negotiations with the Professional Footballers' Association and 'other agencies' regarding the potential signing of Ched Evans.
The League One outfit are looking at the possibility of bringing in the Welsh striker who has experienced all kinds of problems in finding a new club since his release from jail in October after being found guilty of rape.
Oldham club director Barry Owens told Sky Sports News HQ that talks were ongoing regarding former Sheffield United forward Evans but insisted that nothing official had yet been put in place.
"There are ongoing negotiations with regard to signing Ched Evans. Unfortunately, quite a lot of due diligence still needs to be completed. We are still in talks with the PFA and other agencies. At the moment, I would just ask you to bear with us," he said.
"There are things to be done genuinely and I don't anticipate that it is going to be done over the next few days. If it is, and it is possible to do anything for you, we will make contact with you and we will tell you what the circumstances are. We are a professional club and we do things in the right way with regard to our media."
