Oldham council propose to fund redevelopment of Boundary Park

Oldham have announced the local council have issued a report on club's long-term future at Boundary Park . The Latics had originally wanted to move to a new home in Failsworth, only for the Charity Commission to knock them back.

However, it appears the council are prepared to contribute to the funding of redevelopment for the 107-year-old stadium by constructing a new North Stand rather than moving home.

Chairman Simon Corney told the club's official website: "We were obviously bitterly disappointed at not being able to develop a new stadium at Failsworth and, as we advised earlier in the year, we agreed with the council to explore alternatives.

"We believe now we have the chance to redevelop the current ground and we have taken steps to implement this and secure the club's future.

"If we get this initial support from the council next week, we will have a platform upon which to build and which we can take forward in our discussions with a funding partner for a redeveloped and sustainable stadium."
