Oldham caretaker not surprised if Man Utd legend Scholes took job

Oldham Athletic interim boss Dean Holden believes Paul Scholes could quite possibly be lured to the League One club.

The Latics lost Lee Johnson to Barnsley this week and are now in pursuit of former Manchester United star Scholes who is a boyhood fan of the Boundary Park club.

Scholes is also good friends with chairman Simon Cornley and good be persuaded to take the reins according to Holden.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Paul Scholes came in," he told the Manchester Evening News.

"I know he's a massive fan of Oldham and he's very friendly with the chairman Simon Corney too.

"He's a legend so I'll probably have my autograph book at the ready if he does arrive!"

Scholes, who is often seen at Oldham home games, is currently busy with TV punditry for BT Sport and ITV and newspaper column writing obligations with The Independent.
