Old Trafford to host Football League play-off finals

Manchester United's Old Trafford ground has been selected by the Football League for this season's League One and League Two play-off finals which take place in late May. Wembley will be the venue for the 30 May Championship final, two days after hosting the Champions League final.

United chief executive David Gill said: "We are delighted Old Trafford has been chosen to stage these two finals.

"The play-offs are some of the most entertaining matches in football."

The League Two final will take place on Saturday, 28 May with the League One final the following day.

It is the first time the Football League's end-of-season promotion finals have been played in the North West.

Ticket allocations for both finals will be around 65,000, similar to the allocation for a Wembley play-off final.

Football League chairman Greg Clarke added: "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to play these exciting winner-takes-all occasions at one of the great stadiums in world football.

"We are equally pleased that we are able to take the Football League play-offs to the North West, an area that has been at the heart of professional football since its very origins."
