Okazaki becoming key man at Mainz
Shinji Okazaki is slowly becoming one of the key men at FSV Mainz.
The 27-year old Japanese forward, who joined Mainz from Stuttgart in the summer, scored a match-winning double in last weekend's 2-0 win over Eintracht Braunschweig and his performance won the plaudits of both manager Thomas Tuchel and sporting director Christian Heidel.
Tuchel said after the match: "There's nobody who'll begrudge him that (brace)."
Whilst Heidel indicated that the former Shimizu S-Pulse had set himself some lofty targets since arriving at the Coface Arena.
"If Shinji doesn't score, he feels like he hasn't contributed," he said.
Okazaki has now scored three goals in nine Bundesliga appearances for the O-Fives who currently sit 11th on the table.
