Okada names Japan squad for Serbia friendly

Takeshi Okada has named his Japan squad for the international friendly with Serbia next week in Osaka.

The Blue Samurai will be playing their final match before Okada decides on his 23-man squad to take to South Africa in June.

Amongst the 20 players in this squad is former Celtic and Espanyol midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura who has returned to the J-League with Yokohama Marinos and is striving to get back to his best form.

Okada has not included any of his European-based players as the match falls outside of a FIFA international match day but he admits it will be a solid test for his charges.

"Serbia are physically stronger. I'm going to see how far we can cope with opponents who play a hard game," said Okada.

"Those who were not called up this time still have a chance to be chosen for the World Cup. I called up players whom I must see. I've decided 70 percent of the team for the World Cup."
