Carlisle have signed Richard Offiong from Hamilton Academicals in a deal worth £75,000. Offiong signs for the Cumbrians on a two-year deal with Carlisle given the option of extending the contract for a further 12 months.

"It's great for us that we have got this deal done and signed a player we think will help to make a difference for us," boss Greg Abbot told Carlisle's official website.

"He's a strong, fast and agile player and we think that he'll get goals. It's a good signing for us, and we're looking forward to working for him."

After a successful spell at New Douglas Park, he is now hoping to prove himself as a goalscorer in League One.

"I just want to get on with the job now," Offiong said.

"It's taken a while to finalise things but that's just football. Now that we're done I'm looking forward to the new challenge and to hopefully scoring goals for Carlisle United. "
