Kevin De Bruyne's father believes that his son will now succeed in the Premier League with Manchester City following his previously failed spell in England with Chelsea.

De Bruyne endured a frustrating time at Chelsea but following the move to Wolfsburg a few seasons ago, the Belgian has flourished into one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.

As a result, De Bruyne has managed to earn a whopping £54.5million move to City this summer and the player's father, Herwig, believes that the 24-year-old will now be able to succeed in the Premier League.

"Kevin now has the advantage that he is not like the spare wheel on the car – he is one of the main wheels," said Herwig.

"So the odds are different to what they were at Chelsea. Then again, at Wolfsburg, he was the king, and at City there are seven kings, so maybe it is not noticeable when he plays well.
