Ochoa on trial with Seattle Sounders

Seattle Sounders have played another trialist as they go about strengthening their attack.

Former USA U20 international Sammy Ochoa scored in yesterday's 1-0 reserve team win over LA Galaxy and could be added to the senior roster soon.

The 24-year old is currently playing with Mexican first division club Estudiantes Tecos and Sounders general manager Adrian Hanauer spoke very highly of him after the Monday afternoon hitout.

However, he did make it clear that Ochoa, who played under Seattle head coach Sigi Schmid in the U20s, is one of many trialists the club will look out.

"He's a forward. We're not sure quite how long he'll be around. He's one in a series," said Hanauer.

"It's going to sort of be a continual thing this summer, whether college players or former pros or current pros. We want to be a club that regularly brings players in on trial.

"This isn't anything all that unique. It happens all year and will continue to. Good, strong forward, hits the ball well, decent in the air and a player that Sigi is really familiar with. So he's probably a better person to ask if you want specifics on the player."
