Andy O'Brien is prepared to fight for his place at Bolton Wanderers.

The arrival of Zat Knight from Aston Villa has increased the competition for places at the back, with defenders Sam Ricketts and Paul Robinson also joining up this summer.

But O'Brien told the club's official website: "Competition can only be healthy. You have to look at the bigger picture.

"If you are in the team, you have to work hard to stay in it. If you are not in the team, you have to work hard to get in it.

"The principle for the players is all the same. It is not going to be easy either way but I am looking forward to the challenge."
