Oar opens season account for Utrecht

Tommy Oar scored his first goal of the Dutch Eredivisie season for FC Utrecht on the weekend.

The 22-year old Australian winger struck the equalising goal in the 46th minute as Utrecht drew 1-1 with FC Twente at the Stadion Galgenwaard after Quincy Promes fires the visitors ahead in the 18th minute.

Oar's goal came when he advanced from the midfield with the ball, beat off one defender, before driving past a couple of others to finish across Twente keeper Nick Marsman from the edge of the area.

It was a superb effort from Oar who is striving to secure a spot in Ange Postecoglou's World Cup squad for Brazil 2014.

The former Brisbane Roar youngster will get another chance at international level when Australia meets Ecuador in London on Wednesday night UK time (Thursday morning am AEST).
