O'Neill: Villa fans will see Lerner more this year

Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill says club owner Randy Lerner will be seen more at Villa Park for the remainder of this season.

The billionaire has been unable to devote as much time as he would have liked to Villa during the first half of the season because of troubles at his American football club, the Cleveland Browns.

Villa chief executive Paul Faulkner flew over to America to meet with Lerner recently, but the chairman's right-hand man hardly misses a match nowadays and will be at Ewood Park tonight.

"There was a big story that something has happened and that he's now flying in here to alleviate fans' problems," said O'Neill.

"So if you're talking about that then I'm being asked to comment on something I've no idea about.

"Paul Faulkner travelled out there for a couple of days and Paul's back for the game.

"Whether Randy makes it for this match or not I don't know, but I think he had full intentions of making it for the second leg and trying to fit in a few games.

"Now that Cleveland Browns' season is over, other than those teams who are involved in play-off matches, he has appointed Mike Holmgren, who will make the decisions.

"I think that is taking the sting out of things there. I think he will be able to devote the time that he was wanting here for the second half of the season."
