Burnley striker Jonathan Walters has no thoughts of international retirement with the Republic of Ireland.
It had been expected that the 34-year-old would follow the likes of John O'Shea, Wes Hoolahan and Daryl Murphy by stepping down after their failure to reach this summer's World Cup.
"I think Jon would like to continue depending on how things go in the next couple of months," said Ireland coach O'Neill from Ireland's training camp in Turkey.
"I think Jon will still want to play when he is 64! So that will be up to him. He was very, very positive a couple of months ago and I met him in London when he came down for a check up on how the injury was going.
"I think that he can still bring value to the squad because, at this minute, we have got Shane Long and we have got the two young strikers (Scott Hogan and Sean Maguire) trying to impress, which is great."
